Highlighting each of the unique names and connecting them to their country educates all of us watching our sugar on the Super-Veggie’s rich history.

 

 

Here’s what we know: It first came from India and was then brought to China in the 14 th century. Different cultures have different names for “Bitter Melon” for one simple reason: It is just that old.

Some of the most well-known names for “Bitter Melon” are: Kerala, Momordica charantia, Bitter Gourd, Bitter Squash, balsam-pear, Goya, Cerasee, and many more.

CARELA is the first tea & beverage brand in the U.S. to use Bitter Melon as its main ingredient to mask the incredibly harsh and bitter taste of the Super-Veggie so that we can all enjoy its plethora of health benefits.

In our upcoming series, we follow Bitter Melon’s journey through history from each region and how different cultures use it for their culinary recipes, ayurvedic healing remedies, and traditional medicinal uses.
